Harry Roberts and his associate Leslie Bidmead started their own company designing, manufacturing and selling “transportable audio receivers” in London UK in 1932. He steered a culture of innovation, excellence and service that was to ensure the success of the Roberts Radios brand for years to come. In just 3 years, the company was manufacturing 8 radios per week, a large number for the time.

Imaginative design coulped with unique manufacturing process meant that Roberts Radio captivated the World’s attention and Roberts Radio became a PLC (Private Limited Company) on 23rd April 1937.

Her Majesty the Queen of England had purchased her very own Roberts Radio. It was the first of three Royal warrants for the company.

Innovation and development has resulted in the what we know now as the current spread of four distinct ranges combining traditional materials and skills with modern manufacturing process and cutting edge technology. The Roberts REVIVAL and also the CLASSIC ranges have hand made cabinets made from the finest wood from skilled craftsmen.

Office Chairs and Castors Choice

I was asked by a client if I could find an office furniture solution to a problem they were having in their home office after they had bought some office screens from us. The type of flooring was allowing their office chairs to scoot about the floor. They were looking at using chair mats, which are not cheap, or very easing to the eye. The best solution for all was to fit braking castors or rubberised tyred castors to the leather office chairs.

The braking office chair castors ensure when the user sits on the chair it does not move. The only draw back with that is if you need to move slightly over to another area of your office desk you need to take your weight off the seat.

The rubberised castor have more grip than your standard plastic castor, and allows movement whilst sitting on the chair. These are as you can imagine most useful in the home office environment, due to the different surfaces we have in our houses.
